In both parts, players can take part in battles using a range of controllable ships, submarines and aircraft, set in attractively designed and, above all, very expansive locations. Players can also freely switch between individual combat units, allowing them to personally save even the trickiest of situations.

Of course, the tactical element is not missing either, where the player leaves the control of ships, submarines and aircraft to the AI and focuses on giving orders — who to attack, how to attack, and so on. The PC version of the game offers the option to fight battles both over the internet and via LAN.

The main character of the single-player story campaign is a fresh recruit, Henry Walker, whose first action is taking part in the Battle of Pearl Harbor in 1942.

This kicks off a dramatic campaign that gradually moves to the Pacific, where players are given the chance to take part in a series of both historically accurate and fictional battles that significantly influenced the course of World War II.
